Ferozabad in UP is noted for glass blown bangles and other small products. A lot of the work is done over community fires. The coloured glass rods are made in Ferozabad for use by the local bangle makers and for making of beads in Varanasi.
Overview of Techniques involved
1. Sourcing and Transporting raw materials and creation of wax model

2. Preparing the glass
- The furnace and the glass is first prepared to the right temperature.
3. Blowing
- The glass blower dips the end of a blowpipe into the molten glass, gathering a blob of glass on the end of the pipe.
4. Coloring
- If the artist wishes to add color, the hot glass is dipped into crushed colored glass before blowing
5. Shapping
- The artist then rolls the soft glass on a marble or steel table, which begins to shape the piece and also to cools it
6. Blowing
- The artist then begins slowly blowing air into the blowpipe, creating a bubble
7. Detailing
- The artist continues to blow and shape the piece, using a variety of tools and some times molds to create the desired effect.
8. Finishing
- The piece is slowly cooled so that it doesn’t crack and break, the surface is finished if required and then packed.
