Lac is an insect based resin.Its property of being malleable with heat and its ability to absorb colour have made it ideal for making bangles.The bangle thus made can be embellished with beads mirrors etc.In Orissa, lac is used to coat and decorate bamboo dowry boxes, and in Orissa and West Bengal terracotta figures and dolls.

1. Sourcing and Transporting raw materials and raw material preparation

2. Lac collection & Preparation
- The insetc resin is collected from the trees.
- The resin is then melted strained and prepared.
3. Dyeing & preparation of tubes
- The lac is colored while its prepared
- They are made into tubes with batons & roller pins.
4. Moulding
- These tubes are then circled to the required size around a wooden baton and then concealed with heat
5. Finishing
- Once the mould is ready, then the suface is ormaneted if reqd and finished.
