Leather craft is very widespread in India. Mojris are made in Rajasthan, Punjab. Mojris are very often embellished with embroidery by the women. Chappals that are worn in summer are often embellished with cut work, stitchwork etc.
Overview of Techniques involved
1. Sourcing and Transporting raw materials and creation of wax model

2. Preparing the leather
- The leatehr is first dried well and then dyed to the required shade.
3. Preparing the templates and design
- Depending on the design and the template the basic leather form is cut and smoothened.
4. Surface embelishments
- Based on the embroidery template made the karigars embroider the leather
5. Assembling
- The various parts are the finally cut and assembled
6. Finishing
- The edges are then finished and the joothis hand polished.
